NOTICE: DSST Test fee is $70.00.

If experience is the world's greatest teacher, then your experiences may well qualify you for college credit. The nationally recognized DSST Program allows you to receive college credits for learning acquired outside the traditional classroom perhaps from reading, on-the-job training, or independent study. DSSTs offer students a cost effective, time saving way to use their knowledge acquired outside of the classroom to accomplish their educational goals.

Currently, there are almost 2,000 colleges and universities that recognize the DSST program and award college credit for passing scores. Colleges, universities and corporations throughout the United States and in some other countries administer tests year-round.

Benefits of the DSST program may include:

  • Earning credit for previously learned knowledge
  • Reaching career goals through furthering your education without taking time off from work to be a full-time student
  • Gaining confidence performing at a college level
  • Improving chances for college or university admission
  • Maximizing tuition assistance to enroll in more advanced-level courses
  • Making up missed courses
  • Graduating in a shorter period of time

Learn more about the Benefits of using DSSTs by reading "The DSST-College Credit for Experience," an article published by Peterson's, a Nelnet Company.
There are over 37 test titles in the areas of Social Science, Business, Mathematics, Applied Technology, Humanities, and Physical Science.

The test fee to take a DSST is $70. Administering institutions may charge a test administration fee according to their school policy.

Before you take a DSST, consult with your counselor to be sure the test fits your curriculum.
